Living Styles throughout History have changed just a few times

All but three of the 24 world leadership civilizations in history fall into the Regional Governments category below. Ancient Mesopotamia was the first large area of settled towns, while Britain and the United States led in the technological revolutions of the 19th and 20th centuries. In all the other 21 leadership civilizations, people prospered largely due to the security provided by effective governments. Until the Industrial Revolution around 1830, the lives of most people in leadership civilizations were remarkably similar. For example, people walked to work, and transportation was done only with animals or by wind powered boats. Examples of all four living styles exist in today's world.

Pre-history - nomadic life

A few examples remain today like African bushmen, Mongolia

Settled Towns - based on agriculture

Parts of ancient Middle East - some as early as 8000 BC (like Jerico)

Much of Africa today

Regional Governments - provide security

Ancient Egypt was secure mostly by its geographical isolation.

Rome and China were made secure through a strong military

Developing countries today

Industrial Revolution - rapid progress through science

1830 on - railroads, telegraph (first major use of electricity)

Europe, US, and parts of East Asia are fully in this stage of civilization
